Majority of the hotels accept credit card or cash for payment in case there is extra charges and any potential damage to the room during your stay. The extra charges include telephone fees, internet fees, and meals you take at the hotel will all be used to calculate the hold.

If you don’t have a credit card and want to book a hotel room, you can call the hotel directly and ask them if they accept a debit card. Most hotels allow you to book a hotel room with debit card, but they will also require you to pay a few hundred dollars deposit upfront in case of any potential extra fees.

Before you call the hotel, make you sure your debit card has enough funds to cover the room fees and deposit. Besides, you should keep more than enough money in your debit card to cover up the holds while you are traveling.

After you have checkout of the hotel, the hotel will refund the full deposit back to your debit card if no additional charges is incurred. It may take up to two weeks for the money to be credited back to your debit card. Sometimes, the hold in your debit card can go on for more than one week after you have checkout. If you urgently need to use the money in the debit card, you can call up your bank and ask them to speed up the process of the refund. The bank usually recognize the fees and will make the funds becomes available in your debit card again faster.
